All Aboard

Normally I'm a freak about double checking things and map questing everything. This past week with Madison being sick has completely thrown me for a loop. We had tickets to the Polar Express on the Heber Creeper. When I was at Sundance a while back and remembered the train station just up Provo Canyon.....Stupid Me! So thats were I thought we went for our little excursion. We drove up there for the 5:00 train ride, but no one was around. Thanks to Jennie for picking up the phone. She gave us directions to station in HEBER CITY, which is another 20 minutes from Sundance. I seriously couldn't believe that I had done this because I'm such a direction nazi. We called the station and they said to keep on coming. When we arrived the train was still there! We jump out of our car and began running for the train. as we got to the station it pulled away....we couldn't believe it. Nate was so annoyed by me and I wanted to redeem myself by jumping on the moving train. We were told to come back for the 7:30 train ride and they would see if they could make accommodations for us. After eating dinner we attempted another try at the Polar Express. We were inside the station patiently waiting for our fate, when I noticed Elder Dallin H. Oaks standing a couple of feet away from me. Nate was chasing after Maddy and I gestured for him to come over. When I told him Elder Oaks was in the bathroom, I could instantly tell that he wasn't convinced. Out came Elder Oaks and Nate still didn't believe me and said, "That's not him." Just as he was saying that, Elder Oaks had people shaking his hand and getting pictures with him. "Told You So." Finally, something to change the mood of our little family. At the last minute they gave us our tickets! We went to our train, but it was full and so we went to the next train and guess who was on it.... Yep, Elder Oaks and two empty seats just a couple rows in front of him. It was awesome to meet him and to shake his hand. We also had a fabulous time on the Polar Express.
We Believe!

Mmm Cookies and Hot Chocolate

The reaction to Santa was much worse!

Santa's Elfs names were Sprinkles and Sparkles.

I have wanted to ride the Polar Express too. But I think we may try it next year when Grace is older. Man, and to get to meet Elder Oaks too. What an awesome family trip.

That sounds so cute! Cydnee had a primary activity about a week ago where they rode the "Polar Express" (a bunch of red wagons hooked together) around the church and had stops to do different things. She thought that was fun, she'd LOVE a REAL train ride! Glad you got on!

You are always having these great adventures. I sure live a boring life! It looks like so much fun. McKade loves the movie so I'm sure he would have loved that. How lucky you were there with Elder Oaks too! That's awesome!

Looks like you had a ton of fun! I am sorry that you got lost, but I am glad that the let you on. We are going to do this on the 18th so I'm glad you liked it. I would have been sad if you hated it. Question for you, how early do you have to get there to find a bunch of seats together? I'm going with my family and my mom is worried if we don't get there an hour early that we won't get seats together. Was there a long line when you got there and how early did you get there? I know you missed the first one, but when you went back. I really don't want to stand in line for a hour with Kenedy if we don't have to! I loved the pics you got! Great Scrapbook page! he he!

Oh my! I was having flash to our little excursion last year. We knew where the station was I just got the time wrong. I called and they told us the same thing..."just keep coming." We literally sat in our seats and the train took off! We barely made it! I'm sure Ted would have acted just like Ted had we not made our train. Oh well, so fun though. Remind me to tell you my story about Elder Hales one of these days.

Oh that sounds like so much fun. I'm glad you made it. My husband would have acted the exact same way. I'm the direction person in our marriage too, so that means when something goes wrong we get all the blame...men!!!

What a fun family date! That would be a dream come true for Dawson - he is an official train addict! How awesome that you got to meet Elder Oaks!!! So nice that you had something to redeem yourself. Men just don't understand that we have a lot to organize in our cute little heads. Sometimes important info gets misplaced - it's so NOT our fault!

You are always out and about doing fun things. Maybe we will have to try out the Polar Express sometime. Brett would LOVE it, especially since they serve Hot Chocolate and cookies. It would be even better if they would do the little dance and sing the song like in the movie!

I've always wanted to go on The Polar Express! My sister-in-laws went last year and I had a friend and her family go this year and they all loved it! I think I will wait until next year when Izzy is older. Looks like fun. By the way, this is Heather Stockton..from Pony Express.. Your little girl is soo cute!! She is getting so big! I guess it's been quite a while huh? Anyway, I had seen on jonna's blog that you also made some of the hair things. I have been looking for different hair things like that and haven't had much luck. I would like to make some but I haven't the slightest idea on how to. Or where to get the material for the headband. So, I was wondering if you could give me some tips?!? That would be fabulous! You can check out my blog if you want at stocktonhousehold.blogspot.com
Take care!
