Calling it a Day

Well, it hasn't been quite 24 hours since I discovered the leaking pipe in our basement. I simply thought it was the dishwasher at first, but then I remember that I hadn't started the dishwasher. By the time I convinced myself to get out of bed and check it out, I discovered 4 inches of WATER in our basement. THANKS to my awesome brother in-law who directed me "over the phone" to the main water valve to turn it off. Another THANKS to my amazing neighbors that I woke up at 1:30 to borrow their wet & dry vac. Nate will be buying one immediately upon arrival to Utah! I am happy to say that it's fixed with minimal damage to some insulation. It also gave me a great excuse not to take a shower or get ready today since our water was off half of the day. So don't mind the pictures of me being grungy! I can't wait for Nate to come home, tomorrow couldn't come any sooner.
Madison also received her first hair cut today! I took her to Cookie Cutters, which is such a kid friendly place. She still hated it. It freaks me out for the day that I have to take her to the dentist. We tried Barney, bubbles, a sucker, and a balloon which still didn't help. She cried the entire time and I've got pictures to prove it.
I'm ready to call it a day.

Giving her BEST glare.

The one second that she watched Barney.
I had to hold her so that she would let the lady touch her and she's wasn't going to wear a "princess" cape.
The car she was suppose to SIT in, but instead she STOOD. After all the drama, we made it home to put together Maddy's new toy. She fell in love with it at Angie's house on Saturday and so I just had to buy it.

Oh I am so sorry! Having a malfunction in my house freaks me out. I know it will come some day. Madi looks so cute in her new toy house.

Oh Lace! That is crazy! I bet you're glad to get Nate back home. Maddy looks so cute in her pictures. Her hair has grown a lot since I last saw her.

You need some CHOCOLATE and a Diet Coke!

Yeah that definitely would NOT be fun to deal with. Sometimes being a big kid isn't that great because you have to deal with stuff yourself!!! That is such fun documentation of the first hair cut and GREAT black mail material for latter on;-)

Why do things like that always happen when the guys aren't around?? So sorry, glad you got it all worked out.

Of course it always happens when the husbands are away! I'm so sorry! You seem to have handled it well though! I would be freaking out. I feel your pain with the haircut. McKade HATES getting his hair cut. It is always quite the ordeal.

I HATE days like that. I bet you are glad Nate is coming home. Let me know when it is closer to when you are coming and I would love to get together.

I swear houses just wait for the husbands to leave to pull stunts like that. I am just glad that everything worked out and the damage wasn't too bad. Kudos for you for dealing with the busted pipe problem and the drama of the first haircut. Maddy takes cute pictures even when she is crying.

I thought Nate just got back from LV? So sorry you had to deal with that. That happened to me last spring when Jared went out of town, but decided to turn the sprinklers on before he left. My neighbor pounded on my door about an hour later telling me I was flooding his yard. Apparently, our pipes didn't drain properly last year, and they shattered upon turning them on. Anyways not fun stuff. On the otherhand, next hair cut, try putting a cape on you, as well as Maddy, and holding her on your lap while they cut her hair. Seemed to work for Maliya. Looks like she was rewarded for the haircut though. Glad you were able to stay with us, and we were able to chat for longer than a frenzied lunch break. I got Maliya's tent when she was 3 months old- it grows up with them... from tummy time, to "house" play time... her and Dax still love to play in it. YOu'll get tons of use out of it through the years with your next 5 kids as well :-)

You always have such a good attitude! Even when something lousy happens you make it sound like a funny adventure! Madison sure looks cute with her new hairdo! Oh and the by the way, I loved your suggestion to take jeff camping for his birthday. You crack me up! I seriously laughed outloud when I read that. You are the best!

OH NO! I didn't know about the water in your basement. I'm glad all is well. I loved the pictures of Maddy getting her hair cut. Kind of a Timon face at that age. Her little tent is so cute. Every girl needs her own little house to play in. Love you guys. Mama Laird

So I just barely cut my Anna's hair too. I heard that if you cut it, it grows in thicker. Anyway.. I didn't take her to a salon. I just had Clayton cut it. Very interesting. At least her mullet is gone for now! Your little Madison is such a cutie!

What a nightmare to have happen when Nate's gone. So sorry- glad you checked it out when you did. It could have been so much worse! It's great having such nice neighbors! That place looks so cute you took Maddie to. Maybe next time she'll enjoy it more.
