Houston Wedding

I can't believe that tomorrow is already the beginning of another weekend because I haven't quite recovered from the last. I am no longer the only sister in-law on the Laird side. We flew to Houston on Thursday morning for the wedding and it was quite the comical trip.
PICTURE THIS....

Thursday
  • Nate is carrying two suitcases, another carry-on bag, a stroller and the enormous toddler car seat in a bag on his back. He enters the shuttle and turns to go down the aisle smacking the driver in the face with the car seat. He proceeds down the aisle as stroller attacks the crotch of a man standing and leaves dirt marks all over his suit pants. The best was the protruding eyes of this man and me yelling at Nate to stop dragging the stroller over this man 's valuables.

  • The airplane was having fuel pump problems shortly after take off and so they made an emergency stop in Albuquerque, NM. We were there for about an hour. Missing our connecting flight to Houston from Fort Worth.

  • I am not a fan of planes descending. I used all the barf bags in our row and one in the row in front of us. We took off and landed 3 times!

  • We got a connecting flight to Houston, but to a different airport. We had to change our rental car and our luggage was lost!

  • We went to the rehearsal dinner in shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops.
Friday
  • We went to the Houston temple. Gorgeous! The temple lost the marriage license. So Aaron and Lauren rushed to a near by court house to get a copy of the license, while we all waited at the temple.

  • They were married!

  • The reception was beautiful and quite the bash with dinner, dancing, cake, & fireworks. We had such a good time it was hard to see the night end.

  • I dropped our camera and it broke. I'm still getting pictures from the rest of the family because I don't have any from the rest of our trip.
Saturday
  • NASA Space Center

  • 2 hours of driving in construction

  • Dinner with the Crabtrees (Lauren's family).

  • Swimming
Sunday
  • At the airport Momma Laird was handing off her drivers license to the attendant at check-in. The license slips out of both of their hands and down into a crack in the desk. After taking the desk apart we held on to Eric's leg as he reached down to retrieve the drivers license.

  • We made it home safely with no extra stops and no barf bags used!!

WOW! That's some trip. I am so glad you guys made it back without too much trouble. Even with everything that happened it sounds like you all still had a great time. Yeah!

That is crazy. I can't believe all that happened. I get motion sickness on planes too. I usually take some pills for it---and that helps, but it knocks me out. Jeff hates flying with me. Glad you made it back safely. Looks like the reception was fun.

I hate airlines. I really do. I would rather drive than fly. Crazy but true. I love your explanation of Nate hitting the guys "valuables." That's great:)

Oh Lace!!! That is terrible! Did you ever get your luggage back? Geez, after all the trouble you guys went through to get your dresses and shoes and what not for the wedding, that just stinks! I think traveling is hard enough, but when you add all those complications on top of it, watch out!!! Glad you made it home okay though! :)

Wow! I can't believe so many things went wrong in one weekend! That is crazy- you could make a movie out of it. Maddie's dress was so gorgeous! It looks like it was a lot of fun once you skipped all that happened to get there. How fun to have another Laird girl.

Wow, that is quite the story. I'm glad I'm not a barfer, that would stink! I'm glad the wedding was nice though, that's the most important thing, right?! I'm sure you'll be recovering from that trip for another week :)

Glad you are home in one piece! I love how you describe your story. You guys are the funniest couple :) We are so excited to see you in a couple of weeks. Andrew is going to call his buddy about the tickets. He says it should not be a problem.
