Hawaiian Babymoon

After finding out that #3 was on the way we decided that we had better go on a vacation together. So Nate and I booked our trip to Hawaii and off we went. Grandma came and stayed with the kids and I think they wore her completely out! Nate and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and everything about Oahu (3 days) and Maui (6 days).   I'm going to go into some detail so that I don't forget these memorable people and moments.

One of the best things about spending a couple of days in Oahu is that we were there a few days before the 70th Anniversary of  the Pearl Harbor attack.  We were able to meet a couple of survivors and pay our respects for serving our country. Those survivors are pictured below. In the next 10-15 years there may not be any survivors left.

Our day on the North Shore of Oahu was filled with Shrimp Shack, endangered Monk Seal, Hawaiian LDS Temple, Grandma Dahlia's roadside fruit stand, Matsumoto's shaved iced, and lastly the Polynesian Cultural Center.

We went to Ala Moana Beach in Honolulu and meet a man named China. He he is a retired professional surfer who now helps diabetics by teaching them to paddle surf.  He wants to give back to the community and so he teaching anyone to paddle surf for free too. What an awesome person to meet!

We then took a short flight to the Maui where we stayed in a beautiful resort in Wailea.  We had the most amazing view just outside on our patio. We enjoyed the wonderful food especially the "Banana Macadamia Nut French Toast with Bananas" and "Cinnamon Roll French Toast with Coconut Syrup" at the Kihei Cafe. Not the most healthy choice but soooo delicious! We found a few food hot spots that we will miss dearly!

I Survived the Road to Hana! With Dramamine and my sea bands working like a charm I actually enjoyed every moment of the trip....even though it took us 12 hours to make the loop. There were lots of pit stops... waterfalls, banana bread, dolphins, boogie boarding, and my absolute favorite was the breathe taking black sand  beach. We took millions of pictures!

We drove up to the crater which took us over an hour. When we got up there this is what we saw. Such a big disappointment...we couldn't see more than 3 feet ahead of us. Not to mention that it was freezing. It was like going from Hawaii 85 degrees to Utah 32 degrees in an hour.
