It's been two weeks since Halle Kate graced us with her presence! Here are a few highlights from her grand entrance...
- Birthdate: May 10th, 2012
- Labor: 5 Hour from the start of the Pit to Delivery
- Epidural: After trying for 90 minutes and being stuck SEVEN times they got it in, but it didn't have enough time to kick in. Nautral...Ouch! Not to mention the really sore back I had for over a week.
- Cord: Her umbilical cord was wrap around her neck so she came out pretty blue and grey. She also had other issue with her cord. It attached the the placenta on a membrane instead of the meaty part of the placenta it's called placenta velamentosa. So let's just say we have a miracle baby. The risk with this results in a high stillborn rate. We feel so blessed that I was induced and that my water didn't break at home.
- Weight: 7lbs 1 oz
- Height: 18 inches...not really. The next day one of the nurses was questioning her height and so we remeasured her and they were off by 2.5 inches! She's really 20.5".
- Name: Well I found the name Halle (like Halle Berry) on my phone one night while scrolling through a list of baby names. We had so many names that we loved that this was definitely the hardest child to name. We used the middle name of Kate because of sweet little Kate Rosenvall...an angel who touched our lives.
After 24 hours I was so tired from being woke up every hour the night before from the hospital staff. I decided it was time to jet! I was so excited to go home and actually sleep.

Lacey, she's beautiful!!! What a little miracle and you look unbelievable!
She is a doll!! Congratulations!! You look SO amazing-and wearing jeans 24 hours after you delivered, holy cow! You are incredible-and what an adorable little family you have. I also left the hospital 24 hours after I had Emilia. I hate being there! I was dying to get home to start normal life. Also, I love the name Halle- it was our other choice for emi. Love the picture of her in her carseat, so cute.
Oh. My. Gosh!! I just read about your umbilical cord issue. I had another friend that had that on her first baby (but didn't know it). After 3 IVF attempts, went full term and her water broke in the hospital with no nurses around and lost the baby. That is a total miracle!! So glad she is here safely and that all went well. I told Jon on the next baby, we have to have them check the origin of the cord during the ultrasound.
Sucks you had to go natural, too. I had that happen with Cade (kicked in after I had him).
She is totally beautiful. :) Love the name. Can't wait to meet her!
