Sink or Swim

We spent the past two weeks taking Madison to Parent Tot swimming lessons. I foresaw the lessons as being a fun Mom & Daughter activity and some great memories. We've got memories...of tantrum after tantrum and me leaving 5 minutes early. Don't ask me why she was better for Nate during lessons than for me. She's quite the little swimmer and has no fear of the water. Her favorite thing to do was to hold on the side of the pool (by herself of course because she's INDEPENDENT). Then she dives underwater and kicks herself back up to the edge. If we weren't doing that then she wasn't participating unless Daddy was there. There was floating, kicking, bubbles, jumping and tantrums!

Those are awesome swimming pictures. Max cried the ENTIRE time he was in lessons with his teacher but now that he is not forced to do what his teacher says he is a complete fish and you would think he loved every minute of lessons. So not the case!

That is a great idea. It looks like a lot of fun. Maddy is doing really well. I am there with you on the tantrum throwing, almost a daily basis on our end! I can also relate with you on daddy only...Cody is the only one that can take Rylee to nursery or drop her off at the day care in the gym. She goes right in for him, but if I try to do it, it's the bloody murder scream and monkey clutch! and I have to say that I love how your links show when all the blogs were updated. You site is like a one stop shop to see who's got new news!

Love the pics of the tantrums, you gotta document that kind of stuff! Isn't it maddening how much kids will do for their dads that they won't for their moms? Cydnee is signed up for swim lessons in August, she is not afraid of water AT ALL so I want her to really know how to swim and I think she'll try more stuff if it's someone other than her MOM asking her to! And we haven't even reached the teenage years....yikes.

Madison is so stinkin cute. I have been trying to teach Brekyn how to swim and it is hard. She is doing a really good job! I should start on teaching Tukar now instead of later. Any tips???

yeah, swimming! I thought I would teach my kids to swim myself(I was a swimmer and taught lessons for years) but have come to realize, sometimes the parent is not a good idea...as you have realized!

I just wanted to tell you thanks for bringing Maddi down to play today. I think Pais and her could become best little friends. I was thinking that one night we need to leave the girls with their daddy's and go to dinner or something. Have a good day!

This post gave me a flashback to the 1st swim lesson I took my 2 oldest boys...they screamed and cried the WHOLE 30 min of class, which felt more like 2 hours! After that first time, they were fine! I love the water and to swim! Looks like Maddy does too! Good for her!
